Henrietta Leavitt – Amercian Astronomer

Henrietta Leavitt was an American Astronomer. Here are some out-of-this-world (pun 100% intended) facts about her! – She was a “computer” at Harvard University

– During her career, she discovered about 2,400 stars (WHAT?!)

– In more basic terms, her job was to find galaxies to see how far away they were from Earth and other planets, while they were MILLIONS OF LIGHTYEARS AWAY

– There is an asteroid and crater on the moon named after her

– Unfortunately, she got very sick after graduating from Radcliffe College and almost fully recovered, but was left deaf for the rest of her life
