Mary McLeod Bethune was an American teacher, civil and women’s rights activists, and also a government official. Here are some facts about her!

– She was one of seventeen children

– She founded multiple organizations and led voter registration drives for women after 1920, when women gained the right to vote in the United States

– President Harry S. Truman chose her to be at the founding conference for the United Nations in 1945

– She was also a business woman who co-founded an insurance company in Tampa and co-owned a resort in Daytona

– There is a statue of her in Washington D.C.

– She also has a postage stamp of her
