Helen Keller was an American Author, Political Activist, and Pioneer. Here are some facts about her!

– When she was young ( about nineteen months), she contracted a disease that left her blind and deaf for the rest of her life. But, she persisted.

– At the age of seven, she met Anne Sullivan. The woman who was her teacher/mentor and friend.

– She was good friends with the author Mark Twain.

– She was the first person that was blind and deaf to graduate college (along with Anne, too). She graduated from Radcliffe College.

– She was one of the founders of the ACLU.

– Anne and Helen had been with each other for 49 years, until Anne passed away, while holding Helen’s hand.
